Richard took up the position of Pastor in January 2002. His vision is to see a rejuvenated church that reaches out to people of all ages in Machen and the surrounding areas. Richard and Carol were married in 1963 and have three grown up sons. Richard retired early from his secular job as a telecommunications engineer in October 2004 in order to give more time to his pastoral duties. Carol is involved with many of the church activities including Senior Citizens Lunches, Sunday School and Youth Club.
		Edmund and Joy first came to Emmanuel as newly-weds in 1968. Their four children were dedicated and nurtured there under the leadership of Pastor Eddie and Mrs Marjorie Watkins and co-workers. They worked with children and youth almost from the word go, and Edmund was soon appointed a church elder. Edmund took over as pastor at Eddie Watkins’ retirement at the beginning of 1993. At first, he combined this with his secular employment on the academic staff of Cardiff University, but was full-time from mid-1997 until he retired from the pastorate on 31st December 2001.
		Nancy was born and raised in Machen. She is the third generation of her family to attend Emmanuel Church, her grandparents and parents having attended before her. She was involved with the youth work for a number of years and also worked as a Sunday School teacher. She was privileged to join the leadership team in 2002.
		Pat came to Emmanuel in 1994 and shortly afterwards the fellowship supported him through Bible college. After graduation he entered into virtually full time ministry. He started out in pastoral care and administration and later became treasurer. Now a deacon, Pat spends a good deal of time with the church design & print facility. He also does web page design - he designed and maintains this site.
